Foundations of Visual art - 10 - A-A Assignments

Today we will take a virtual tour of the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts.

This museum is one of my favorites and walking around Salem is fun, it has a port with a ferry to Boston. I will share the website with you today. Plan a trip some day you won't be dissapointed.

You will need your computer for class today.

I will give you time to explore and then share your favorite collection or current exhibition.

And then we will watch the short video of artist Zarah Hussain: Breathe

Your extended art project is to create a geometric design of your version of a 5 second breath.
Use whatever you have available to you or create a digital art work demonstrating your understanding.

Easy enough to do on the attatched drawing page. select shapes and notice the varius sizes of hexagons, use the fill button to choose your colors.

Today we will set up a still life drawing of your own choosing.

Choose objects with defined shapes.....anything goes

Find at least 2 objects and set up with some lighting so you can see value.

I’m suggesting using the top of a bureau or a table top with a light source. The light helps you to see the values.

Take your time and we will tunr this in on MONDAY

We have been learning about creating characters and the plain is to move into cartoon creation.

Next we will have a VTS session looking and talking about art. These sessions are designed to increase visual thinking skills

Today we will explore the MFA exhibition Jean Michel Basquiat and the Hip Hop generation

For the art project we will create an artwork in the style of Basquiat.

materials - paper, red, blue yellow and black markers or oil pastels ....whatever you have in the house!

Follow along with the attatched video (super easy) or create on your own Basquiat inspired artwork!

Together we will watch and take journal notes (preparing for IB journal work for juniors) from the Netflicks series Abstract.

We will learn so much about sneaker design through the lens of world famous designer Tinker Hatfield

Next: Let's get creative by spending some time designing our own footwear design!

Start by grabbing your own sneakers and draw from eye level .....next.....start to play with the form and try different approaches.
( use whatever materials you have ....markers, pen ....pencil ......or go digital with your design!

Anything goes so just be yourself and enjoy your time creating and designing your footwear

The bigger plan is to create a comic strip and then an animation

1. Choose between the ADOBE SPARK platform or google slides to begin your project.
2. Begin the project with your voice and or video.
3. We will be adding photos as time goes by.

Use the video from yesterday to create a drawing of 2 hand poses using the 4 shading techniques learned.

Make sure that you use all four techniques to earn the 5 points!

Your finished product can be part of your portfolio if you choose
