Head of School's Message

head of school

Hello! My name is Raquel Martinez, and I'm proud to be the Head of School of Snowden International School at Copley! We are an international multicultural and multi-lingual focused school located in Boston's Back Bay. Welcome to our school website! If you are a new visitor to our online community, our website is relatively new and still under development, but there is a lot of content and information that can help you better understand who we are as a community and what opportunities we offer our students.

To our school community during our current school closure: I hope this message finds you well and hope everyone is doing as well as possible given the challenges we are facing.  Your support team (teachers, counselors, and administrators) are thinking of you. I’ve spoken to many of you over the last few weeks, and I’ve been really impressed with how well you’ve adjusted to all that is being asked of you.  We all are. It is normal to feel a sense of loss because of the impact this emergency

This is an extremely challenging time, but overcoming these types of challenges can help define us as a community. This crisis presents challenges, but also opportunities.  Students -- please take the opportunities you have to complete academic work to keep your skills sharp and your mind engaged, but also make sure to continue to care for those around you and to make time for reflection, exercise and things that you enjoy.  Persistence will require you to be at your best, so rest and make sure you are eating right and taking care of yourself.

School work and ongoing learning is important, our teachers, counselors and staff are working hard to make sure that learning is available, but school is not the most important thing right now.  It is ok to focus on other things as long as you keep in touch and make sure that you are getting some things done each week.

Please stay connected to us so that we can continue to provide you academic support, or just to say hello and talk.  Relationships will be more important now than ever. Please continue to lead by example when it comes to safe behaviors and social distancing. Parents, please check the News and Announcements section for updates and resources.

Thanks to all who visit our website, please reach out to me if you have any questions and I'll do my best to get back to you. We look forward to engaging you in our international mission!

Best,

Raquel Martinez
